The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters relevant to human rights and cooperation within the OAS framework.
During the meeting, Minister Todd underscored the Government of Guyana’s polices for the promotion of human rights and reiterated Guyana’s commitment to supporting the Commission in the execution of its mandate.
Guyana’s commitment to the promotion of human rights is evidenced in its nomination of Guyanese national Dr. Christopher Arif Bulkan, who is currently vying for a seat on the IACHR Commission at the elections to be held in the coming days, is within the margins of the General Assembly.
President Macaulay and the other Board of Directors applauded Guyana for the strides made over the years with its legislative policies, which are aligned with the principles of the Commission.
